Od ukupne kopnene povr\u0161ine parka 90% obraslo je \u0161umom hrasta crnike i alepskog bora. Dakle, na ovom otoku ne\u0107e vam nedostajati hlad. Spavat \u0107ete na dva koraka od mora, unutar nacionalnog parka, jesti svje\u017ee pripremljena doma\u0107a jela, kupati se u zelenim jezerima, voziti se barkom kao da plovite \u0161umom, i jo\u0161 \u0107emo vas povesti na mjesto s kojeg \u0107ete pogledom zagrliti cijeli raj!

Stari Grci vjerojatno jesu plovili Mljetskim kanalom, sklanjaju\u0107i se u mljetske uvale za nepovoljnih vremenskih uvjeta. Me\u0111utim, najstariji naziv za Mljet \u2013 Melita, dugujemo Grcima. Melita je u prijevodu ‘p\u010dela’, od gr\u010dkog m\u00e9litta, m\u00e9lissa. Za pretpostaviti je da je zbog bujne vegetacije na Mljetu oduvijek bilo p\u010dela. Zanimljivo je da \u0107e isti naziv dobiti i otok Malta, pa kasnije, zbog lak\u0161eg razlikovanja, nailazimo na latinske dodatke imenu: Melita Ilyricum odnosi se na Mljet, a Melita Africanum na Maltu. Svakako, mljetski med na\u0107i \u0107ete kao autohtoni suvenir. Nacionalni park obuhva\u0107a zapadnu tre\u0107inu otoka s pripadaju\u0107im morskim pojasom u \u0161irini 500 m od obale. More se tu uvuklo u otok, pa ga je otok zarobio stvaraju\u0107i najprije Veliko jezero, pa potom Malo jezero. Recimo to ovako, Malo jezero spojeno je s Velikim jezerom, a Veliko jezero spojeno je s otvorenim morem. Jezera su zapravo kr\u0161ke depresije koje je more potopilo, no pejsa\u017eno toliko nalikuju na jezera da ih je narod s pravom tako nazvao. Dakle, radi se o jezerima s morskom vodom. Gusta \u0161umska vegetacija spu\u0161ta se do same obale. Kada \u0107ete \u0161etati oko Malog jezera, \u010dinit \u0107e vam se kao da se \u0161uma tamo dolazi kupati. Oko jezera mo\u017eete napraviti krug. Obalom Malog jezera pru\u017ea se sjenovit puteljak u duljini od 2600 m. \u0160etnica obalom Velikog jezera idealna je za vo\u017enju biciklom, \u0161iroka i asfaltirana, vodit \u0107e vas kru\u017eno u duljini od 9240 m. Pojasnimo, preko Solinskog kanala koji povezuje Veliko jezero s otvorenim morem, sagra\u0111en je Veliki most. Prije\u0107i \u0107ete ga kako biste napraviti krug. Prije nekoliko godina to nije bilo mogu\u0107e \u2013 jer nije bilo mosta. Naime, 1958. godine Solinski kanal pro\u0161iren je i produbljen kako bi u jezero mogle uploviti ve\u0107e brodice. Tada je i poru\u0161en stari Veliki most. Novi Veliki most ugledao je svjetlo dana 2016. godine.<\/p>\n
U ovo putovanje uklju\u010dili smo pje\u0161a\u010denje u prirodi, \u0161to je zapravo obilazak nacionalnog parka s turisti\u010dkim vodi\u010dem. Pje\u0161a\u010denje \u0107emo prilagoditi va\u0161im interesima, no bili bismo najsretniji kada biste se s nama uspeli na Montokuc, vidikovac unutar nacionalnog parka (253 m). Puteljak vijuga \u0161umom otvaraju\u0107i mjestimice prekrasne poglede. \u0160lag na kraju, Montokuc \u0107e vam dati jezera na dlanu. Vjerojatno ne\u0107ete mo\u0107i izdr\u017eati pogled od ljepote. Priroda nas uvijek lije\u010di, ali Mljet nas mlije\u010di! Ispod Montokuca pru\u017ea se Solinski kanal, a u daljini vide se otoci Lastovo i Kor\u010dula. Tako\u0111er, vidjet \u0107ete koliko je Pelje\u0161ac zapravo blizu, \u010dini se da Mljetu \u010duva le\u0111a\u2026
S Montokuca spustit \u0107emo se na obalu Velikog jezera, pa brodicom oti\u0107i do oto\u010di\u0107a Sv. Marije. U 12. st. sagra\u0111en je na oto\u010di\u0107u benediktinski samostan. Za vrijeme Dubrova\u010dke Republike dogra\u0111ivan je, za vrijeme Jugoslavije u njemu se nalazio hotel, a danas izranja iz mljetskog zelenila poput monumentalnog renesansnog ljetnikovca\u2026<\/p>\n
2. Mljet broji oko tisu\u0107u stanovnika. Osje\u0107at \u0107ete se u pustom raju. Uostalom, metri\u010dki sistem na ovom otoku ne\u0161to je druga\u010diji: udaljenost od 2 metra u mljetskoj stvarnosti iznosi 200 metara.
3. U paket aran\u017eman uklju\u010dili smo doma\u0107u hranu. Ve\u010deru birate: mesna, riblja, vegetarijanska ili veganska. Ribu sami lovimo, pravimo maslinovo ulje, sadimo povr\u0107e, i nije da se hvalimo, ali istina je – kuhamo s ljubavlju.
4. Pje\u0161a\u010dit \u0107ete s nama i ne\u0107ete se izgubiti. Pje\u0161a\u010denje \u0107emo prilagoditi va\u0161em ritmu i interesima. Pokazat \u0107emo vam \u010dudo od prirode i \u010dudo od kulturne ba\u0161tine. I jo\u0161 \u0107emo vam pri\u010dati pri\u010de!
5. Doznat \u0107ete \u0161to je Odisej radio na Mljetu sedam godina. A nije ostario ni dana.
